During the last 13 weeks, Chorus students have been working on a variety of projects in order to continue their musical learning. Over these last 2 weeks of school, we will feature some of these projects.

Check out this Spotify playlist, which was inspired by the Zoom lesson on Film Scoring and Movie Sound Production. It's got tracks from Lost, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and more!

It's been a wild ride this spring, with Remote Learning ....

And you've all seen more pictures of my cat than you probably ever wanted ... so here's one more, just to round things out ;)

Picture

But I'm so happy to have been able to stay connected with all of you during the last few months, despite all of the challenging circumstances. I hope you get a chance to unplug from Zoom and Google Classroom this summer, and I look forward to seeing everyone in the fall! Don't hesitate to be in touch :)

Uniform Returns

Picture
All uniforms should be returned to Nipmuc TODAY, Thursday, June 18. Please check your email for more information from administration about the schedule for the day. When you arrive to school, look for Mr. Harding, who will be set up in the Faculty Parking Lot outside the Band Room. There will be a clothing rack for you to hang up your uniform, and Mr. Harding will record the numbers that are marked on the inside of each piece.
Sopranos and Altos: bring your black shirt and pants, WASHED (they're machine washable), on a hanger
Tenors and Basses: if it's possible for you to get your tux shirt and pants dry cleaned, that is helpful for the music department. However, we certainly understand that it may not be possible this year! In either case, please bring your tux shirt and pants on a hanger.

If you are unable to return your uniform on Thursday, please email Ms. Simmonds ASAP!

Listening Recommendation:
Black Choral Musicians Playlist

Picture
The Spotify playlist linked here, "Black Choral Musicians," created by Justin Braun, features Black choral musicians, arrangers, composers, conductors, and ensembles. In addition to spirituals, this playlist also includes non-idiomatic choral music of Black composers from the Classical era to today.

Recommended Resource: BBC Proms

Picture
The Proms, or the BBC Proms, more formally known as the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts, is an eight-week summer season of daily orchestral classical music concerts and other events held annually, predominantly in the Royal Albert Hall in central London. The Proms were founded in 1895, and are now organized and broadcast by the BBC. Each season consists of concerts in the Royal Albert Hall, chamber music concerts at Cadogan Hall, additional Proms in the Park events across the UK on the Last Night of the Proms, and associated educational and children's events. Check out the BBC Proms website for live broadcasts, articles, playlists, and more!
