For my project, I decided to do something I always wanted to try, and which is to write, record, and produce my own song. This was an extremely stimulating process that ended up being much harder than anticipated, but this became my passion project and while its not done yet I’m very proud of my first shot at this form of songwriting. I have written many songs on the guitar but this was my first time exclusively using electronic composition tools. This was a definite challenge but also turned into an opportunity to explore new tools. I got to experiment with vocal effects, layering, reverb, and I even made my own drum lines for the first time. This piece is not finished yet and I definitely have more work to do with it but to answer the question “why music?” - which was the heart of this project, for me it is because it is what I am most passionate about, and I can use everything from in and out of class that I learn and love about music, and apply them to my passion project.
